The Post Office and Village Grocery Shop were still open in 1990. But in the early 21st century the shop closed as the Barbers retired and moved to Kings Lynn. The building was sold, renovated to become solely a house, and became a private residence for several years. Some years later it wa resold and renovated further and became a second home .
On the right of the photo Post Office Cottage, and the 2 adjoining cottages in Post Office Yard, have been joined together and renovated to make one house , and in the 21st century it is let as a private residence on a long term let.

The prefab bungalow is called Springfield, and the flint faced one is called Orland House. Both have had these names for many years , certainly in 1990 when the photo was taken, and still in 2023.

The building is in 3 sections. The centre, with the gable end, is The Post Office used for post office business only.
The right hand side is accommodation for the postmaster/ postmistress - nzpybyMiss Chestney and family
The left hand side is the workshop for the Village boot and shoe repairer., Mr Curson.
    This photo is pre 1950.

Once the house was sold plans were put in for an updated building. The extension at the end was demolished and a large square kitchen was built instead. And during the building work the roof of the house collapsed, taking with it some of the frontage, so this part of the building was changed too. The very angular house is now used as a holiday home .w

Sorry, this is the first chapel to be used in Stanhoe, “the barn chapel”. Much more information on the other photo site.

The Primitive Methodist Chapel was built in 1892 using money given by Henry Calthrop Hollway of Stanhoe Grange, as the previous small “barn chapel” was too small for the congregation.
“The Cross” , the base of the old cross leading down Cross Lane to St.Peter’s Chapel, is in the foreground.

The “Millennium Cross” , built on top of the old Cross base, was erected to mark the year 2000, and was paid for by the Parish Council. It is still referred to as The Cross , and originally marked the way down Cross Lane to the ancient chapel on Chapel Field, which has long since disappeared.
