    Hullo,
I am a descendant of H H Heinemann, and I am trying to trace the family back to Germany, and also the other branches of the family. I have photos of the family in Ceylon and some of Billy Heinemann who from this page I have at last can place, is anyone here a descendant of Billy Heinemann. I have a vague recollection of my grandfather telling me he was a bit of a 'black sheep' but that may be a mistake.

Charles had a brother Alfred and a sister Emily who immigrated to Malden, Massachusetts in the United States. Alfred's son William also worked for AWA Plate for a time.

I was delighted to find this photo yesterday and to see Charles Heinemann, veterinarian, brother to my great great aunt-by-marriage Clara (Heinemann) Plate. Does anyone know how Charles ended up in a wheelchair? -- he certainly died very young.
Clara's family seems to have been a remarkable one...she is likely best known as the wife and partner of AWA Plate -- together they founded the photography studio AWA Plate & Co in Colombo, Ceylon and also opened a studio in Nuwara Eliya (in the heart of "tea country") Clara's other brother Herbert moved to Ceylon with his wife to assist with the studio, and he and Clara kept it going for many years after Clara and AWA apparently separated. AWA died in Austria in 1931. Clara eventually returned to England from Ceylon, where she died in Kent in 1954.

Yes - the man on the left is Mr. Percy Bloy. He is my grandfather and I remember as a child in the 1950s he spent many hours working on Hospital Sunday arrangements, and also for the Royal British Legion. He lived with his wife Sarah in Ivy Cottage, where she had a general store. His main recreation was to go for a game of dominos at the Hero pub. He was a very quiet serious man, who had served in the 1st World War.

This view is Docking Road, opposite Chapel Yard. The Methodist Chapel is seen beyond the two bungalows.
