    Stanhoe Hall in the 1950’s. Gillian Beckett says ; This photo shows the Victorian sun lounge, and on the end is the old kitchen and older servants quarters. The Hall had an underground kitchen and a Well. The Well was used to pump up water for The Hall by a huge winch like wheel.

    Gillian Beckett writes;
    In 1851 John Calthrop allowed an agricultural building to be made into a Methodist Chapel, the building now being the garage to Southgate House. How the 1850’s congregations of 100+ fitted into this space amazes me. Most of them must have stood out in the yard with the coach and horses.

    Apparently John Calthrop did not hold with the absentee parson
    the Rev. Daniel Everard. His son Henry Calthrop Hollway had the new larger chapel built further down the road , in 1892.

    The 3rd person from the right in the middle row is my father, Frederick William (Tom) West. He was friends with ? Walker who is 3rd person from right at the back. Hope this helps.
